W.I.C. (Women, Infants, and Children’s Supplemental Food and Nutrition Program)

W.I.C. provides eligible pregnant and postpartum individuals and children up to age 5 with access to healthy food, nutrition education, breastfeeding support, and community referrals. Enrollment is available for eligible family members, including those cared for by fathers, grandparents, legal guardians, or foster parents.

Services Provided:

  • Healthy Food Resources: Authorized foods include infant foods, iron-fortified cereal, fruits, vegetables, eggs, milk, cheese, peanut butter, and whole-grain options. Infants who are partially breastfed or non-breastfed may receive infant formula.

  • Breastfeeding Support: Breastfeeding is recognized as an optimal way to nourish infants. Support is available through classes, peer counseling, and onsite lactation consultants (IBCLC). For more information click here.
  • Nutrition Education: Clients and caregivers are provided with nutrition education and counseling services by Registered Dietitians (RD/RDN).
  • Referrals and Health Screenings: WIC includes screenings for various health concerns and provides referrals to appropriate health and social service agencies. Referrals may include:
    • Medicaid and SNAP (food stamps)
    • Immunizations
    • Child health screenings (EPSDT)
    • Family planing service

Michigan W.I.C. Connect Mobile App:

Michigan WIC Connect allows clients to view available food benefits, locate nearby grocery stores, and manage appointments from a mobile device. The app also assists with determining eligibility and contacting local WIC agencies. The app is available at no cost in the App Store and Google Play.

Main Location

Call our main office at (810) 987-5300 for appointments. For WIC appointments, call (810) 987-8222. Blue Water Area Transit Public Transportation System, includes bus routes and information. Administration, Emergency Preparedness, Planning and Response, Environmental Health, Health Education and Community Outreach, and Family and Community Health Services which includes: Adult Immunization Travel Program, Childhood Immunizations, Children’s Special Health Care Services, Clinic Services, Communicable Disease Control/Prevention, Hearing and Vision Screening, Lead Testing, Maternal Infant Health (MIHP), and Women, Infant, and Children’s Supplemental Food Program (WIC).

Teen Health

On the campus of Port Huron High School. Entrance is located by the Court Street Pool and tennis courts off 20th Street. A direct route to the Teen Health Center, please select Routes 1 and 3. Medical clinic providing acute and chronic health care to adolescents, 10-21 years of age.
