St. Clair County SPEAK

SPEAK: Substance Prevention through Early Action and Knowledge.

Mission Statement: Striving for a healthier community by working together to prevent youth substance abuse.

SPEAK was created in 2019 by a group of various local agencies and community members that came together to address youth substance use. SPEAK’s mission is “Striving for a healthier community by working together to prevent youth substance abuse.” After review of local MiPHY data and the Community Health Needs Assessment data, the group prioritized the issues of vaping, underage drinking, youth marijuana use, and opioid use. A 5-year strategic plan was created to address these issues through evidence based strategies such as parent education, youth prevention programming, retailer training and awareness activities.
