Notary Public

To become a Notary Public, you must:

  • Be a St. Clair County resident.
  • Fill out the Application for Michigan Notary Public Commission form.
  • Obtain and bring a $10,000.00 surety bond with a Power of Attorney attached. Bond must be submitted to the County Clerk's office within 91 days of issuance. *Not required if you are an attorney in the State of Michigan.
  • Bring the above to the St. Clair County Clerk's office. Photo ID required. You must swear a constitutional oath of office.


  • $10.00 -- application fee
