MAN CRASHES CAR AFTER REFUSING TO STOP FOR DEPUTY

(Fort Gratiot Township)  A 60 year old Avoca man suffered minor injuries when he crashed his car today in Fort Gratiot Township.

According to St. Clair County Sheriff Tim Donnellon, a sheriff’s deputy observed a vehicle driving erratically northbound on 24th Avenue shortly before 2:00 p.m.  The deputy got behind the vehicle and activated his top lights and siren.  The vehicle didn’t stop but sped up, travelling north past North Pointe, and continued north on Lakeshore Road.  The vehicle veered off the road, striking a guardrail, then several cement posts before stopping in the 5600 block of Lakeshore.

Fort Gratiot Fire and Rescue and Tri-Hospital EMS were called to the scene of the crash.  The man suffered minor injuries and it is believed a medical issue may have contributed to his erratic driving and crash.
