Geogrphic Information System

The Metropolitan Planning Commission makes use of computer mapping and database management technology or Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to efficiently manage land use data. The Commission’s GIS Staff assists local communities, County departments, and the Commission itself with understanding existing conditions, change, and forecasts trends in data that it is charged with maintaining. GIS Staff also works very closely with regional, State and Federal agencies to gather and share relevant data, and to further their efforts to assist an every expanding base of users.
