Data Directory

The Metropolitan Planning Commission maintains a wealth of geographically based data that has been mapped. The data originates from a number of sources including federal, state, regional, county, and local agencies. This data has been converted to a format that enables a user to view it as separate maps or combined with other data layers on a map.

We have attached a PDF file that contains a Data Directory booklet. This document lists all of the data files that are maintained by the MPC. In some cases you will find file names or special notes related to the availability or use of that data. This booklet is intended as a general reference source. If you have specific questions about a file please do not hesitate to contact us by telephone or e-mail our GIS staff.

Keep in mind that much of this data did not originate with the County. We have access to the data through 'User Agreements' with the parent agency. As a result, some of the data can only be shared or provided to others by those agencies. However, in many cases the County can provide users with maps or outputs of this data, we just cannot share the digital or electronic files that make up these maps. Again, give our office a call if you have specific questions.
