GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
The Assistant Program Director functions as the assistant to the Program Director and assists with administrative functions. In addition, the Assistant Program Director will design delivery systems for various group processes, assist in the developing and implementing of life skill units, assist in setting up and maintaining community service projects and assist in the training and supervision of the staff.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
Immediate supervision of staff employees.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
AN EMPLOYEE IN THIS CLASSIFICATION, UPON APPOINTMENT, MUST HAVE THE FOLLOWING TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
This position requires a Bachelor degree in social science or a related human service field with considerable professional experience in supervision or Juvenile Court work.
Desirable qualifications include a Master's degree in social work or a related human service field with supervisory experience in Juvenile Court work.
Must have a valid State of Michigan Driver's License and a good driving record and maintain this license throughout employment in this position.
TYPICAL EXAMPLES OF WORK: (An employee in this classification may be called upon to perform the following tasks which are illustrative and not exhaustive in nature.)
Develop and write a training model for skills and group processes to be used by Program staff for working with groups.
Develop, coordinate and monitor job skills training, job recruiting, placement and supervision.
Maximize the success of young people by providing opportunities for employment and independence.
Develop, coordinate and monitor community service work sites.
Assist in developing the DT/NW Program and training.
Investigate and implement disciplinary actions concerning employees.
Must be capable of performing physical restraint with youth.
Must enforce Program rewards and sanctions.
Substitutes for other Program staff when necessary.
Attend and represent Program at judicial hearings (i.e.: PVH, Reviews, Trials, Show Cause, etc.)
Transport clients to court hearings, counseling sessions and medical reviews.
Supervise the maintenance of Program vehicles.
Attend activities when requested to do so.
Secure bids and contracts for contracted services.
Serve as a liaison between Program, community and the County.
Secure and account for donations/equipment for Program.
Purchase supplies for Program needs.
Maintain, submit and monitor the National Food Program account.
Write, monitor and maintain all grant programs.
Actively solicit funds for activities not provided for by budget.
Maintain and monitor payroll and employee schedules.
Maintain, submit and monitor all Program accounts payable.
Maintain and monitor all County and State required inspections and drills.
Maintain and monitor all petty cash expenses.
Maintain client incentive awards.
Maintain and monitor building repairs.
Maintain, submit and monitor Program budget and expenses.
Maintain and monitor substance abuse testing, records and substance abuse programs.
Maintain and monitor family and client compliance with Court Orders.
Maintain and monitor expenses with Intermediate School District.
Maintain and monitor use of County equipment.
Perform the duties of the Program Director in his/her absence.
Other duties as assigned by the Director or the Court.
