To obtain a marriage license in St. Clair County, apply at the St. Clair County Clerk’s Office. MARRIAGE LICENSE APPLICATIONS ARE ACCEPTED FROM 8:00 AM UNTIL 4:15 PM.
Requirements:
Men and women 18 years of age and older may contract marriage in Michigan without parental consent.
For purposes of marriage application, residency is determined by a current valid driver's license/state-issued I.D.: -If both persons are Michigan residents—they may apply in the county where either applicant lives. The license is valid throughout the state. -If one person is a Michigan resident and the other person lives out of state you must apply in the county in which the Michigan resident resides to be married in the State of Michigan. -If both persons are out-of-state residents--they must apply in the county where they plan to be married. The license is valid in that county only.
The following is required of BOTH PERSONS at the time of application: -Valid driver's license/state-issued I.D., showing correct address. -Birth Certificate for both applicants. -Social Security Number
Fee per couple: $20.00--Michigan residents; $30.00--Out-of-state residents.
One or both applicants must appear to apply for the marriage license. If only one applicant is present, they must have all items listed in #3 for both persons. (A Xerox copy front & back, of the other's Driver's License/State-Issued I.D. will be accepted.)
Information:
There is a three-day waiting period by state law. The marriage license becomes valid on the 3rd day following application. A license is NOT available for pick up on weekends and legal holidays.
The marriage must be solemnized within 30 days of application.

Persons 16 and 17 must show a certified copy of their birth certificate. A written consent of one parent or legal guardian, who must appear at the time of application, will be required. If parents are divorced, the parent must prove custodialship.
