Historic Village at Goodells County Park
The C.C. Peck and Company building, built in 1908,
has recently been restored to its early 20th century appearance.
The Bank was originally located in downtown Goodells, before it was moved to the
Park in 2003. It currently sits in the town square near the Lynn Township Schoolhouse
and the Murphy/Ryan Farmhouse in the Park’s Historical Village. The building is
one of four banks that were built and operated by C.C. Peck and Company in the early
1900’s. The Wales Township Historical Society has provided historical data and artifacts
along with efforts in preserving and helping with the restoration project. "Being
a part of this process gives everyone a chance to learn about the local history
of Goodells which is very exciting," stated Herm Weng, President of the Wales Historical
Society. |
Welcome
Parks, rivers, and trails provide recreation, serenity, balance
and a source of ongoing enjoyment for St. Clair County residents and visitors. The
St. Clair County Parks and Recreation Commission (PARC) owns and manages the park.
More and more local residents, visitors, community groups, along with area businesses
are enjoying the new and the “old” facilities in Goodells County Park.
The Historic Village
The Lynn Township Schoolhouse provides a rich history to area students, teachers
and visitors. Restored with original desks and artifacts from the past, this one
room
schoolhouse makes a great field trip
or bus tour. The Murphy/Ryan Farmhouse and the Farm Museum round out the 19th century
Americana village.
