Building Healthy Families

MSU Extension Family, Youth and Children staff (FNP and 4-H) are involved in after school programming at six different school sites in the Port Huron Area School District. In supporting youth health issues, this after school program will involve students in health focused activities from a curriculum produced by Michigan State University Extension called "Jump Into Fun and Fitness." Students will be instructed on healthy food snacks and the importance of physical activity in an effort to build healthy children. The school sites are: Harrison, Roosevelt, Garfield, Cleveland, Woodrow Wilson, Crull, Yale, and Anchor Bay.

In conjunction with this after school programming initiative, parents and guardians will be offered the opportunity to attend a one-hour parent workshop. This will run simultaneously with the students' after school activities during the month of February.
