In St. Clair County local communities have authority over zoning and enforce zoning ordinances. If you have specific questions about zoning we recommend that you speak directly with the appropriate local community. Consult a telephone book or County Directory for telephone numbers.
The Metropolitan Planning Commission does maintain copies of most community zoning ordinances and maps, and may be able to answer your questions. However, before you make an investment decision we advise you to contact the local community to ensure that you have the most current information and that we have interpreted it accurately for you.
If you care to view a community’s zoning ordinance or map, you can do so at the offices of the Metropolitan Planning Commission Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Our offices are located on the second floor of the County Administration Building in downtown Port Huron. Ordinances and maps are free to view, a nominal fee is charged for copies.
If you have a question about a zoning district please be prepared to provide us with an address or be able to accurately describe the location of the property. You can call us at (810) 989-6950. If you would like to stop by the office we ask that you call ahead to make sure that a staff member will be available to answer your questions.
