Michigan Geographic Data Library  

This site will take you to the DNR's spatial data library. From this site you will be able to view a variety of mapped data sets as well as download mapped data.

Southeast Michigan Council of Governments  

SEMCOG is a regional planning agency representing the seven county metropolitan Detroit region. It is a voluntary organization comprised of elected officials from member communities. SEMCOG's staff prepares numerous reports on topics currently of concern to the region. These include reports on population, the economy, land use, transportation, governance, and many others. SEMCOG offers many of its published products on line as well as access to a wealth of statistical data.

Michigan Center for Geographic Information  

The Michigan Center for Geographic Information is a state agency that maintains a wealth of geographically based statistical data on Michigan and it's smaller units of government. Through this site you can also access most any geographically based data that is maintained by the State and its many agencies.

United States Geological Survey

The United States Geological Survey is a federal agency that maintains a great deal of data at the global level down to the state, and in some cases local level. The product that the USGS is most widely known for are the topographical or quadrangle maps used by those who venture outdoors. They also maintain a great deal of additional data including aerial photography and research material that may be useful to students. Much of this can be down loaded directly from this site.

IMAGIN

The County belongs to an organization called IMAGIN (Improving Michigans Access to Geographic Information Networks). IMAGIN is a network of individuals and organizations interested in the use and application of GIS technology in Michigan. Members of this professional organization are committed to continually improving the quality and availability of digital geospatial data necessary for effective use of GIS.
As Michigan's designated contact for the Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC), IMAGIN has a direct link to the federal government in helping the FGDC to develop GIS standards and guidelines.
