GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
To assist the St. Clair County Friend of the Court in domestic matters including custody, change of domicile, change of legal residence, parenting time and support matters. |
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Work is performed under the direct supervision of the Domestic Relations Mediator and the general supervision of the Friend of Court. |

None. |
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Two years field and/or clinical experience preferred.
Education, training and/or experience in methods, practices, policies, state statutes and procedures.
Possess interviewing skills and investigative techniques for collecting, assimilating, and analyzing information.
Possess communication skills and the ability to interact with professionals and the general public.
Ability to identify and understand the dynamics and effects of separated and divorced families and related issues.
Ability to communicate and facilitate resolution of frequent and ongoing disputes between parents.
Familiarity with confidential information protection practices.
Ability to work in a team setting.
Progressively responsible work experience preferred.

AN EMPLOYEE IN THIS CLASSIFICATION, UPON APPOINTMENT, MUST HAVE THE FOLLOWING TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
A Bachelor degree, from a regionally accredited college or university, in psychology, sociology, social work or related counseling degree is required. Demonstrated skill in the use of Microsoft Office Programs, including but not limited to: Windows, Word, Excel, and Outlook. |
TYPICAL EXAMPLES OF WORK: (An employee in this classification may be called upon to perform the following tasks which are illustrative and not exhaustive in nature.)
Interview, investigate, fact-find, analyze and prepare written recommendations of domestic matters.
Daily management of cases.
Investigation and response to all parenting time and custody complaints.
Advise parents as to appropriate methods of communication and cooperation.
Prepare for and testify in court.
Conduct joint meetings to facilitate dispute resolution and parental cooperation pursuant to statute.
Train other staff as needed.
Perform related work as required.
