Title: Account Clerk I - Humane Law Enforcement

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
To independently perform general clerical, bookkeeping and other record keeping activities. Answer phones, maintain office files, answer citizen questions and address complaints, wait on customers, process departmental payroll; prepare records, reports and perform all related clerical and record keeping work as required. Uniforms are required to be worn for the Humane Law Enforcement Account Clerk I position.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Work is performed under the general supervision of the department head or other designated official.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Thorough knowledge of modern office practices and procedures and methods. 
Considerable knowledge of departmental organization, working procedures, regulations and personnel.
Thorough knowledge of commercial arithmetic and bookkeeping.
Ability to make mathematical computations quickly and accurately. 
Ability to assemble data and prepare accurate records and reports. 
Speed and accuracy in performing clerical work. 
Ability to understand and carry out complex oral and written instructions. 
Ability to proof detailed technical writing and numerical information. 
Considerable knowledge and ability to accurately process departmental payroll.
Must have knowledge in the operation of computers and software programs, including but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access etc.
Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with supervisors, other staff members and the general public.
Perform related work as required.
AN EMPLOYEE IN THIS CLASSIFICATION, UPON APPOINTMENT, MUST HAVE THE FOLLOWING TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma (or equivalent) required supplemented by courses in bookkeeping and commercial subjects. Two (2) years responsible experience in performing clerical, bookkeeping or related work required. 
TYPICAL EXAMPLES OF WORK: (An employee in this classification may be called upon to perform the following tasks which are illustrative and not exhaustive in nature.)
Assemble financial and other data to prepare records and reports.
Wait on customers, answer telephone and perform miscellaneous typing and report preparation work.
Compose and type correspondence, reports, records, purchase orders, invoices, requisitions, statements or other forms.
Check computations and post to ledgers and journals.
Prepare bank deposits or other statements and reconciliations.
File and maintain files.
Perform public contact work, receive calls, and perform all related work as required.
Address complaints and requests for service.
Input department payroll.
Perform necessary clerical duties as related to office.
