GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES

The position of Treatment/Training Coordinator is a professional position which requires education, training, experience and the ability in coordinating treatment for the Juvenile Center's Residential Treatment Program and for coordinating training for the Juvenile Center's staff. The Coordinator is responsible for establishing and supervising treatment programs and insuring that the programs meet all regulatory and licensing requirements. The Coordinator is also responsible for monitoring staff training needs and arranging for the training to take place as well as maintaining records of all staff's attendance.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED
The Treatment/Training Coordinator is responsible directly to the Superintendent of the Juvenile Center.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
The Treatment/Training Coordinator supervises all treatment staff, both full-time and part-time. All employees that work in the treatment department of the Juvenile Detention Center will receive their supervision from the Treatment/Training Coordinator. This includes any detention staff that work in the treatment department.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
In addition to the educational and experience requirements (see below), the Treatment/Training Coordinator must be capable of using standard telephone systems and possess the manual dexterity to operate computers and other office equipment.
Prolonged standing while making training presentations to employees.
Lifting audio visual and other equipment necessary to perform trainings.
Must be able to push and pull carts that are carrying televisions, video cassette recorders and/or DVD players.
AN EMPLOYEE IN THIS CLASSIFICATION, UPON APPOINTMENT, MUST HAVE THE FOLLOWING TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

At the time of appointment to the position of Treatment/Training Coordinator, one will need to have the following: · A master's degree in social work or one of the behavioral sciences, plus two years experience in a juvenile detention center.

- OR - ·

A bachelor's degree in social work or one of the behavioral sciences plus for years experience in a treatment program or juvenile detention center.

TYPICAL EXAMPLES OF WORK: (An employee in this classification may be called upon to perform the following tasks which are illustrative and not exhaustive in nature.)

Insures adherence to all Treatment Program licensing requirements.
Chairs the Treatment Program’s screening/intake committee.
Supervises Treatment Program staff.
Establishes programs and supervises their adherence to regulatory and licensing.
Performs Treatment Program employee evaluations.
Consults with staff regarding the status of cases and advises regarding treatment plans.
Meets with residents and parents to do intake and explain all aspects of the program.
Modifies goals and interventions as necessary and appropriate.
Submits statistical reports within appropriate time frames.
Develop and update all training materials for Juvenile Center staff.
Evaluates the effectiveness of all training programs and makes improvements as needed.
Creates and/or modifies all training materials.
Uses various software programs to create and edit presentation materials.
Presents or arranges training programs in areas that pertain to Juvenile Center employees.
Documents all training for all Juvenile Center personnel and informs them of their current training status on a periodic basis.
Works with other Detention facilities to exchange staff training opportunities and share common training resources.
Develops an annual training schedule.
Schedules orientation training for all new hires and interns, and any ongoing training for staff members, including scheduling time off for all staff to attend. Is responsible to perform any other duties required by the Superintendent of the Juvenile Center.
