GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
To enter information from court proceedings into the computer; to perform responsible secretarial and clerical work involving the court; to file all court records; to assist judges by pulling weekly dockets, weekly jurors and taking verdicts; and to compose and type correspondence, records and reports and to perform related work as required. |
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Work is performed under the general supervision of a designated official. |

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Considerable speed and accuracy in inputting data into computer.
Considerable knowledge of legal terminology and familiarity with the operations of a court.
Reasonable knowledge of a modern office and office procedures.
Ability to follow complex oral and written instructions.
Ability to prepare a variety of legal and other written records and reports.
Tact and diplomacy in dealing with officials, attorneys and the general public.
Considerable knowledge of computer programs including the ability to query and update information. |
AN EMPLOYEE IN THIS CLASSIFICATION, UPON APPOINTMENT, MUST HAVE THE FOLLOWING TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Graduation from an accredited high school, including or supplemented by courses in law, typing, computers, criminal justice and commercial subjects.
One or more years experience with the court system or a law office.
Preferred - Associate Degree

TYPICAL EXAMPLES OF WORK: (An employee in this classification may be called upon to perform the following tasks which are illustrative and not exhaustive in nature.)
Perform responsible secretarial work in connection with the court and court proceedings.
Responsible for preparing case entry into computer, prepare file and maintain case thereafter.
Renders direct contact clerical services relating to attorneys and the general public.
Weekly courtroom attendance to assist judges with motion docket.
Assists in qualifying jury panels and perform the clerical requirements pertaining to a jury.
Signs and affixes court seal as required.
File all court paperwork and cases.
Microfilm all judgments.
Counter work as needed.
Telephone calls regarding specific area of expertise.
Prepare orders when necessary.
Prepare any correspondence necessary.
Cross-trained with counter clerk and acts as backup. |
