Title: CLERK TYPIST - Circuit Court

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES

The Clerk Typist is responsible for keeping Circuit Court administrative records and executing administrative policies determined by or in conjunction with the Court Administrator by performing routine clerical and secretarial duties as required.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Work is performed under the direct supervision of the Court Administrator.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to communicate tactfully and courteously with the public.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure,, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw bar graphs.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to comprehend and apply a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
AN EMPLOYEE IN THIS CLASSIFICATION, UPON APPOINTMENT, MUST HAVE THE FOLLOWING TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
TYPICAL EXAMPLES OF WORK: (An employee in this classification may be called upon to perform the following tasks which are illustrative and not exhaustive in nature.)
Type reports, correspondence, application forms and other material.
Receive callers, determine nature of business and direct calls to destination.
Schedule appointments, give information to callers and perform other administrative and clerical duties.
File records and reports, updates information to computerized records, sorts and distributes mail, answers telephone, take meeting minutes and performs similar duties.
Compute amounts and checks totals on report forms or bills.
Operates fax, personal computer, copier, typewriter and other office machines to produce records and reports.
Other clerical duties as required.
May be assigned to temporary duty as Assignment Clerk or Video Clerk in offices or courtroom of Circuit Judge.
