Title: CLERK TYPIST II

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
To perform moderately difficult and complex typing, secretarial, clerical or other record keeping work and to perform public contact and related clerical work as required.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Work is performed under the general supervision of a designated official.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Considerable knowledge of the modern office practices and procedures, business English, spelling and commercial subjects.
Reasonable knowledge of the organization, procedures and operations of a particular county department or division.
Skill, speed and accuracy in performing various clerical and typing tasks.
Skill in the operation of a typewriter.
Ability to prepare and maintain accurate clerical records, correspondence, reports and tabulations.
Ability to deal with the public tactfully and courteously.
Ability to work effectively with the public and other employees.
AN EMPLOYEE IN THIS CLASSIFICATION, UPON APPOINTMENT, MUST HAVE THE FOLLOWING TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Graduation from an accredited high school, including or supplemented by courses in typing and commercial subjects.
One or more years experience in performing responsible clerical work.
TYPICAL EXAMPLES OF WORK: (An employee in this classification may be called upon to perform the following tasks which are illustrative and not exhaustive in nature.)
Compile information and prepare correspondence, records and reports requiring familiarity with departmental activities.
Type correspondence, records and reports, bills, ledger cards and other records and reports.
Compose and type correspondence and reports.
Answer telephone and other inquiries requiring a knowledge of departmental rules and regulations.
Compile statistical data to be used in records or reports.
Compute charges for billings.
Prepare receipts, vouchers or other records.
Type and run stencils.
Operate typewriter, duplicating machine, calculator, or other office machines and equipment.
Maintain bookkeeping records.
Requisition supplies.
Perform a variety of clerical tasks involving familiarity with departmental terminology and operations.
Maintain records of work received and work completed.
May open and sort mail.
Perform telephone contact work.
As required, issue and record permits and licenses.
Perform related work as required.
