GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Development and administration of department policy and procedure.
Prepare and administrate budget.
Administer and supervise accepted buildings and grounds maintenance procedures.
Collection and keeping of all department records.
Administering training by accepted facilitators.
Supervise the St. Clair County mail department.
Prepare contracts and administer for elevators, snow removable, HVAC, and building roofs.
Supervise operation and repair of HVAC. |
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Supervision received by the County Administrator. |
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
Supervision is exercised over the Assistant Superintendent, Building and Grounds Supervisor, all Custodial and Maintenance Personnel, as well as all contractors doing work on County Buildings and Grounds. |
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Proven supervisory and administrative ability.
Considerable knowledge of computers and HVAC systems.
Ability to keep records and make reports.
Considerable knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems and operation.
Considerable knowledge of cost estimating, building materials and contract specifications.
Considerable knowledge of building structures and construction. |
AN EMPLOYEE IN THIS CLASSIFICATION, UPON APPOINTMENT, MUST HAVE THE FOLLOWING TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Graduation from an accredited high school (GED acceptable) required. Associate’s Degree in Applied Arts and Science or Technology related field preferred.
Building and maintenance experience of at least five years; which shall include a minimum of three years in the following fields: carpentry, plumbing, heating, air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, and general maintenance.
The qualified candidate must possess a valid State of Michigan Drivers License and maintain this license throughout employment in this position. |
TYPICAL EXAMPLES OF WORK: (An employee in this classification may be called upon to perform the following tasks which are illustrative and not exhaustive in nature.)
Provide supervision for custodial and maintenance personnel.
Facilitate any in-service training programs for the instruction and training of personnel.
Conduct purchases of supplies; including the taking of quotations, analyzing cost, and placing necessary orders with the proper venders.
Repair or trouble shoot and make arrangement for necessary emergency repair service.
Develop safety regulations and promote a safe working environment.
Trouble shoot problems with HVAC, repair or supervise repair.
Conduct a preventive maintenance program. |
