GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
The Shipping/Receiving/Mail Clerk sorts and directs incoming mail for departments. Sort and prepare outgoing mail. Receive and deliver incoming vendor shipments and process outgoing shipments. |
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
The Shipping/Receiving/Mail Clerk works under the direct supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor. |
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
This employee exercises no supervision. |
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Must be able to meet deadlines.
Ability to organize and effectively utilize time.
Must have working knowledge of spreadsheet, Internet and word processing software.

AN EMPLOYEE IN THIS CLASSIFICATION, UPON APPOINTMENT, MUST HAVE THE FOLLOWING TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Have a minimum of two (2) years increasingly responsible work experience as a Shipping/Receiving/Mail Clerk. |
TYPICAL EXAMPLES OF WORK: (An employee in this classification may be called upon to perform the following tasks which are illustrative and not exhaustive in nature.)
Receive all incoming mail from post office, sort by department and make accessible.
Receive incoming shipments from vendors and deliver to appropriate department.
Follow up on all purchase orders with “ship to” addresses differing from own and obtain bills of lading or packing list.
Enter Receiving Report information into computerized accounting system.
Maintain receiving log.
Prepare all outgoing mail and deliver to post office.
Prepare outgoing shipments and administer appropriate paperwork required by common carriers.
Other duties as assigned.
An employee in this class performs physical work requiring lifting of objects weighing more than fifty (50) pounds.
