Title: Building & Grounds Worker - Airport
Department: Airport

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Performs general custodial and maintenance work in the cleaning, repair and maintenance of the Airport buildings, runway and grounds. May provide terminal building operations support.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
An employee in this classification is subject to the direct supervision of the Airport Director.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
None.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Reasonable knowledge of the methods, materials and equipment used in the custodial and building and grounds maintenance work.
Reasonable knowledge of accepted cleaning methods and materials and the care and storage of cleaning equipment and supplies.
Reasonable knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry and/or small engine repair.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to work effectively with others.
Good physical condition.
AN EMPLOYEE IN THIS CLASSIFICATION, UPON APPOINTMENT, MUST HAVE THE FOLLOWING TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Possession of a high school degree or equivalent required.
Experience in airport operations and/or aviation preferred but not required.
Some experience in and knowledge of radio communications and operations helpful but not required.
General maintenance and operation of heavy equipment required.
Reasonable experience in performing a variety of building and grounds cleaning and maintenance work.
Commercial Drivers License, Class B, no restrictions with air brakes required.
Automated External Defibrillator and CPR Certification required.
Aerial Lift Certification preferred but not required.
Basic fire fighting techniques required.
TYPICAL EXAMPLES OF WORK: (An employee in this classification may be called upon to perform the following tasks which are illustrative and not exhaustive in nature.)
Dust, sweep, mop wax furniture and floors.
Clean and maintain restrooms.
Wash and/or paint windows, walls, woodwork.
Gather and dispose of refuse.
Operate maintenance and custodial equipment and tools.
Perform maintenance minor electrical, plumbing and carpentry tasks.
Perform preventative maintenance of equipment and tools.
Maintain records and reports as required.
Perform terminal building operations support.
Operate a vacuum cleaner, polisher and/or other building custodial and maintenance equipment.
Maintain sidewalks, parking lots and runway in hazard free condition on a daily basis.
Mow and/or water grass and perform lawn maintenance.
Mow and/or defoliate brush and weeded areas.
Perform related custodial and maintenance work as required.
Availability for snow removal and airport emergencies 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
Ability to remain calm under pressure.
Other related duties as may be assigned.
